About the game system
Beakwood Bay is a PbtA/Carved from Brindlewood roleplaying game for 2-4 ducks and a Keeper (GM), but not just any ducks. Inspired by Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comics, in this hack of Brindlewood Bay you play as bipedal Mallards hired to hunt down treasure instead of solving mysteries. Beakwood Bay is a thriving port city inhabited by all sorts of anthropomorphic animals, where anything can happen and adventure is always on the agenda. The city’s aesthetics are rooted in the early 20th Century, but there are all manner of scientific advancements, such as an experimental rocketpad, a bustling university, and many factories. The oligarchs who control these technology-focused businesses often act as patrons for working ducks and adventurous mallards. No one comes to Beakwood Bay without a plan of how to leave richer. But there’s a curse that comes with this pursuit, and many fall victim to the so-called Coin Fever. Ducks who are sitting on vaults of gold are frequently cruel and miserly in later years, pushing away family and friends to slavishly protect the gold they’ve acquired.
But for now, you are just a Middle Class Mallard who dreams of adventure with your friends. Your ducks work in service of the city’s wealthy benefactors, trying to make a fortune to call their own all while working to avoid the crippling greed and exploitation that is rampant among the city’s elite. Hindered by NPCs after the same treasure, players do their best to gather clues (represented as helpful information and tools that can be used to recover the treasure) before finally trying to retrieve it. There is no prewritten canon path or method, instead, it's up to you to cleverly combine all that you've found to obtain the treasure! Will you succeed? Play to find out!
Session pitch:
Three years ago, famed pilot Bedelia Featherheart and her husband Beauford set flight in their iconic biplane, taking the Azure Claw, a priceless gem intended to be shown at a museum, with them on the journey from Beakwood Bay to Cairo, crossing the Atlantic Ocean. However, the couple never arrived and was feared lost in a storm at sea. Just three weeks ago, a steamer passed through a thick storm and spotted an incredible sight, an unknown island teeming with life revealed in the parting fog. Even more shocking, a part of the Featherheart's plane could be seen! But finding the Azure Claw won't be so easy... There aren't just fellow Seekers but also native tribes and even dinosaurs to contend with! Can your Mallards secure the treasure?

I Wanna Be The Very Best, a Standard Oneshot in the Pokeymanz system, led by Nona
Pokeymanz is a Pokémon system based off Savage Worlds (no familiarity needed). It captures the cinematic feel of the anime and manga more than trying to emulate the videogames. This means you can expect to use your Pokémon not just for battles, but also for other types of adventures and creative problem solving! Become a Pokémon trainer and set out to experience all sorts of adventures with your Pokémon by your side. There will be options to customize your Trainer and starter Pokémon ahead of time, but you can also opt for pregenerated options offered by your GM.

"As a kid growing up in the small, swamp town of Higgit's Bend, there's not much else to get up to besides trouble. Which is why it's especially unfair that you and your friends are grounded on the day the traveling carnival comes to town. But you're not going to let that stop you from seeing the exotic animals and arcane mysteries that await behind those brightly colored carts. It's time to have your first adventure...
"Our First Adventure" is a (unlicensed fan) modification of the "Kids on Bikes" system, designed to allow for a modern and simpler playstyle in a more traditional high-fantasy setting. This will be my second playtest of the system.

You will be playing as a resident of a small town in the middle of a swamp called Higgit's Bend. It's a former mining town on the far, forgotten edge of a large empire. The townsfolk have renounced imperian forms of currency and have built a thriving community that relies on each other for what they need. Your character can any type of body that you can dream up, provided it fits within a high-fantasy, low-technology context. "

Sometimes, the most important part of teenage superheroing is remembering to be a kid. Every year, Coaster Station opens its gates to all of the kids of Halcyon City and so far, the incidents have been pretty minor. Lady Indomitable has designed a coaster that takes the riders into low earth orbit for a survivable period of time for the ultimate rush of brief near-vacuum and weightlessness. So, the entire super community has been invited to Kids Day for the unveiling. This should be the safest year yet!
This game will be great if you like comic books, Superhero movies, emotional damage, and working as a team despite your teenage tendencies.

Gertrude's Birthday, a Living World One Shot, in the Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast system, led by Nona
Welcome to Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast, a sprawling old house outside time and space, where it’s always September 15th and there’s always room for a new visitor. The unusual blend of premade characters, modular rules, and legacy mechanics makes this TTRPG perfect for pick-up play: busy players can drop in and out without ever feeling lost, and anyone who wants to jump in can make a long-term impact without a long-term commitment. Yazeba's is yours to change. Perhaps Residents will leave or change, Guests will become far more important than you expected, or Journeys will take unexpected twists. Take control of one of the 7 long-term residents of the B&B or choose from a cast of 50 quirky guests, each of whom has their own ongoing storylines. Chapters can be played in any order and include things like lazy afternoons, frightful nights, insurmountable chores, and zany competitions, so every adventure is full of surprises. When we were little, we were taught that a story is a sequence of events with a beginning, middle and end. But that’s not how all stories work: some loop around on themselves, some are told out of sequence, and some never end. After we play one Chapter, we can play another without worrying too much about whether it came before or after the Chapter we just played, or how much time has passed. Think back on that prolific paperback series you may have once read: you might have missed a few issues, or read them out of order, but you were always able to figure out what was going on. That's what Yazeba's is going for! While I've planned out the first Chapter for each session, they are short and we may play more than one adventure during our session, swapping characters in between! If you've played Yazeba's before, feel free to tell me the chapters you've played, it's really easy to switch to a different new-to-you chapter instead

Some say that Raptor Peak represents the edge of the known world. And looking north from the frostbitten crag would certainly encourage that impression for most. So, having a visitor from the distant north, beyond the distant horizon would be enough cause for excitement without her also carrying a demanding message from the distant city of dragons.

In this game, you'll play as a member of the Ravenswood Paranormal Society, a group of friends researching the creepy and unexplained happenings in Chicago. One afternoon, you arrive at your group's office to find a message on the answering machine:
"Hi, uh this is Jayden Augustine. My husband and I just bought this really cool old house that we're renovating for a bed and breakfast. And like, sure it's a little haunted but it's really old. And that's part of the charm.

“Dream of Dragons” a Standard One Shot in the Isles of Mist (an original fantasy system). Led by Ashton MacSaylor
When a mysterious egg found in a small village of the Green Vales is identified as a dragon egg, a group of young adventurers must undertake the dangerous journey to the capital at Menaleth to bring the egg to the Queen--before any adult dragons discover the egg's presence and get the wrong idea!
But the journey is complicated by strange dreams that these young heroes start experiencing, in which they themselves seem to be soaring through the air, on wings that look suspiciously like dragon wings...
(This game will be run in Isles of Mist, a high fantasy system that breaks from the Tolkien-esque tradition. This is the official gaming system of Story Tables, used to run family-friendly games as an after-school and summer program for ages 9-18, and sometimes parents.)"

“Just A Delivery Job: Swamp Layover” a Standard One Shot in the D&D 5E system. Led by Rayne Bakcheious
The island continent of Eleri contains many different lands, but this story takes us into the wilds of the Ardent Swamp. Your party’s journey began weeks ago, in the frigid mountains where you were hired by a timber company. Now, as you approach the end of your journey you need only get your cargo of rare Jasmine Pine logs through the sweltering swamp.
This edge of the empire is known for being a little backward, but as long as you keep to the King’s Road, things should remain quiet. All you need to do is find lodging for the night in the sleepy swamp town of Higgit’s Bend and then continue on to your final destination of Orchard on Evves in the morning.
Surely nothing ill could befall you in this former mining town, deep within a mostly uncharted swamp.

Forbidden Ancenstries: Aasimar, Centaur, Changeling, Dragonborn, Elves (all), Fairy, Ginazi, Gith(zerai), Minotaur, Plasmoid, Satyr, Shifter, Thri-kreen, Triton.
Your character could come from any background, but you’re currently working as a delivery person for a timber company. You’ll only be paid if you can get your cargo to it’s destination. Your party has a wagon to transport this cargo.
You have 100g to purchase any armor, standard weapon, or standard adventuring equipment you want during character creation.
For spellcasters: if the spell components you need have no price, assume that you have them. Otherwise, you must factor this into your starting gold.
If you have any backstory notes, please let me know. Please send me a copy of (or link to) your character sheet at least 2 days before we play.

“Just A Delivery Job: Swamp Layover” a Standard One Shot in the D&D 5E system. Led by Rayne Bakcheious
The island continent of Eleri contains many different lands, but this story takes us into the wilds of the Ardent Swamp. Your party’s journey began weeks ago, in the frigid mountains where you were hired by a timber company. Now, as you approach the end of your journey you need only get your cargo of rare Jasmine Pine logs through the sweltering swamp.
This edge of the empire is known for being a little backward, but as long as you keep to the King’s Road, things should remain quiet. All you need to do is find lodging for the night in the sleepy swamp town of Higgit’s Bend and then continue on to your final destination of Orchard on Evves in the morning.
Surely nothing ill could befall you in this former mining town, deep within a mostly uncharted swamp.

In this one-shot, you’ll play as members of The Red Hand Adventuring League. Your guild is frequently contracted to kill various beasts or bring back treasures from treacherous dungeons—it’s nice work if you can get it. For this mission, your team is being contracted by the island of Midar. This peaceful community has recently been plagued by a series of disappearances around one of their most sacred locations: Silent Lake. This secluded lake is said to be the resting place of a long-dead god. If you can figure out what’s causing this and put a stop to it, you and your guild will be paid handsomely.

Then, yesterday', you noticed that the neighbors at the end of the block was looking at you weird. After that you started to get the sense that something is off. Where have all the dogs gone? Why is it uncomfortably silent? Why are your friends, neighbors, classmates, etc starring at you with those looks? Something has happened, will you be able to figure it out in time?
