"Far away on the island of Faelos, lies a forest under the watchful eye of the Warden of the Woods. This fearsome creature is a giant made of twisted branches and thorns, burning with a heatless flame from within, it stalks the forest in an endless, pacing circle.

Traversing the forest is dangerous, but if you can make it to the center, legend says there lies a fountain of the purest water that can cure any disease. Your party has been hired to bring back this water at the request of an ailing elven man.

“While the Alchemist is Away” is a standard One Shot in the Mausritter system. Led by Nona de Koning.

The mouse kingdoms survive on the edge of collapse. A harsh winter or heartless cat could spell the end for all. The settled mice huddle together, hidden in their settlements in trees and burrows and walls, scraping and saving. A tenuous existence.

But you are not like those settled mice. By choice or by necessity you are an adventurer.

You live by your luck, your smarts, your bravery. With your friends by your side, you will abandon the warmth and safety of the mouse settlements and venture forth into the dark and dangerous places where other mice do not dare to tread. There is great wealth to be found by those who are willing to take it.

It's a huge and dangerous world out there. It does not look kindly on a small mouse. But if you are very brave and very clever and just a bit lucky, you might be able to survive. And if you survive long enough, you might even become a hero amongst mice. This time the adventure takes your mice to the once warm and lively home of an alchemist, which is now attended to by his familiar, Fluffy the cat... uh-oh!"

“The Murden Mavens” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay. Led by Nona de Koning

“The Murden Mavens” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay. Led by Nona de Koning

BRINDLEWOOD BAY is a roleplaying game about a group of elderly women—members of the local Murder Mavens mystery book club—who find themselves solving actual murder mysteries in their quaint New England town. There is no canon solution to the mysteries, instead players must collect and piece together many different clues and come up with a convincing theory, then play to find out if they are right! The specific mystery will be one not played at TTRPG Pickup Con before and is selected based on submitted lines & veils :)

The Mavens themselves are all elderly women whose partners have passed away and whose children have long flown the nest. Now, they’re enjoying their golden years in the picturesque town of Brindlewood Bay, keeping their homes the way they like, pursuing their hobbies, and finding comfort and companionship in each other. Their mystery book club has been meeting on the top floor of The Candlelight Booksellers every Saturday evening for the last ten years. The Mavens are particularly fond of The Gold Crown Mysteries series by Robin Masterson, featuring the globe-trotting super-sleuth, Amanda Delacourt (which only exists in-universe and not in our world).

The Mavens' special interest in these books has resulted in them becoming amateur detectives themselves, and by the time the game starts, they have helped local police solve several high profile crimes. Sometimes people approach them to get their help on a case, but usually the Mavens just stumble onto it—much to the chagrin of the authorities, who almost always resent their meddling.

There are some supernatural elements in play in the background, but those will need to be uncovered through repeated plays and aren't a part of this oneshot. There is also a meta level to the setting, where the Mavens are actually characters in a TV show that the players are watching. If there is enough interest in it, the gamerunner is willing to offer this system at future cons in a West-Marches approach where both of these elements will feature more prominently.

This game will be great if you like cozy murder mysteries, PbtA games, collaborative storytelling, improv, Murder She Wrote, Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars, One Of Us Is Lying Players should build characters ahead.

Characters who played 0-2 sessions (this system has no levels). Character creation is a really quick multiple choice process. The gamerunner will contact players in advance to share handouts (rules reference & character sheets) and make your selections

CW: Murder will be featured (but without gory details) and all mysteries may contain hints of cults and the supernatural. The mystery will be selected based on everyone's submitted lines & veils. Examples of potentially triggering content could include terminal illness, mental illness including mentions of attempted suicide or other self harm, bullying, substance abuse (alcohol/drugs), abandonment, kidnapping of humans or pets, imprisonment and infidelity. Not all of these are part of the same mystery, so I will work around your boundaries to provide a great game for everyone.

For this sandbox mission, Guildmaster Kishtari has asked for help in setting up the newest location for The Red Hand. The Witch's Jug- A Shudder Mountain Tale

A game in the Dungeon Crawl Classics system, led by Yorkus Rex

A 1st level Dungeon Crawl Classics adventure set in The Shudder Mountains (Chained Coffin). The Shudder Mountains setting is a blend of fantasy and Appalachian horror based loosely on the writings of Manly Wade Wellman. “Some say ol’ Melasé lives alone because she values privacy; others say it’s because she’s unneighborly. Still, some say she’s a witch in league with dark powers. If this is the case, maybe she can help... Several locals have fallen ill; they’re just a layin’ there in their beds neither awake nor asleep and nothin’ will rouse them. The ol’ witch-woman may know the cure that is if’n she ain’t the cause!” This will be a Zoom event (free account required); dice rolls on the honor system. Pregens will be made available. No DCC experience necessary; system will be taught in-game.

This game will be great if you like hillbilly humor and backwoods horror.

This game is for first level characters which will be provided.

This game will balance silliness with seriousness and combat with role play.

This game will be hosted on Zoom.

Crash Pandas

A game using the Crash Pandas one page RPG rules led by Ansel Burch

You're a bunch of raccoons, all trying to drive the same car, looking to make their names in the dangerous world of LA street racing. Driving is handled with a blind-bidding system that could see you all try to turn right at the same time and smash the car into a wall.

  • Characters will be built in session.

  • This game is good for new players.

  • This game will lean heavily to goofiness and will feature almost no “combat”.

Attack of the Neccomancer

A Game in the D&D 5E system led by Rayne Whitington

In this one-shot, you’ll play as members of The Red Hand Adventuring League. Your guild is frequently contracted to kill various beasts or bring back treasures from treacherous dungeons—it’s nice work if you can get it. This time, the kingdom known as The Sweetest Straight has called for aid. This strange island chain, born of wild magic, is made entirely from candy and sweets. Recently a powerful dark mage calling himself the Neccomancer has attacked the peaceful candy people there, and they need some brave adventurers to take him down!

  • This game will be great if you like Adventure Time, Dimension 20: A Crown of Candy and Discworld.

  • Players should prepare level 8 characters ahead. ~ The Sweetest Straight is essentially a grim-dark version of Candyland. Most of the inhabitants are peacefully ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy, but there’s some nasty stuff out there. For reference on the Candy People, think Adventure Time. You’re welcome to play as a standard D&D character in a candy world, or play as a candy person there to save your homeland. Create a character of any ancestry or class at level 8. My only prerequisite is that you need to know how your character/spells work, or be able to easily look them up. Please note, wild magic will be a factor in this setting. If you need resources, please check out my google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B2K6mrqQ2XseU2tZcm1jbDY5RFE Please also choose a magic item of common or uncommon rarity for your character to start with.

  • This game is best for experienced players of the D&D system. New players are still welcome.

  • This game will lean goofy and will slightly favor combat over role play.

  • This game will be hosted on the Con’s discord channel and be open for spectators.

  • CW: Rated PG13 for Fantasy Violence

The Monster Teens Mystery Club

A game in the Monsterhearts 2 system led by Cody Beck

Belvedere Academy is full of monsters. No, I don't mean teenagers, though there are plenty of those who manage to fit the category. I mean werewolves, vampires, the odd ghost or ghoul. Most of us are perfectly fine, of course. I mean, who wouldn't sell their soul to a demon if he'll take you from a 6 to a 10, hotness-wise? But sometimes...well, sometimes things get out of hand. And if the teachers got wise to the source of all those mysterious disappearances and vicious killings, they might call our parents, and then the parents would totally freak, yada yada. Best to keep everything on the DL. That's where we come in. We're the Monster Teens Mystery Club, keeping the mortals safe from the psychos and freaks. Totally underground, totally rad. Totally NOT crushing on that girl from third period.

  • This game will be great if you like Monster of the Week; Jennifer's Body; Riverdale.

  • Cody will provide playbooks pre-filled with stats and movesets for players to choose from. Players will choose their own name, look, eyes, and origin for their character.

  • This game will be ideal for players with a little experience.

  • This game will balance goofiness and seriousness. This game will lean to role play in favor of combat.

  • This game will be hosted over Zoom.

  • CW: sexuality; underage drug/alcohol use; crude language; emotional manipulation

Beyond the Vale (Raptor Peak) Group 1

A game in the D&D 5E system led by Ansel Burch

Raptor peak is a small tourist town in the mountains with a roaring seasonal economy. So, when the pass into the valley is endangered by marauders, the local Rotary needs to make sure that it is handled quickly and discreetly. Will you help to make sure that the visitors to this year's Dragon Festival can make it to the peak?

  • This game will be great if you like Blackadder and Discworld.

  • Players should build lvl 3 characters ahead. Pre-made will be available if needed. Players can create 3rd level characters however by either standard array or rolled (Roll 4, Keep 3. 7 times drop the lowest). New characters should choose one "common" magic item. • This game will balance goofiness with seriousness and combat with role play.
