“Prince Charming, Reanimator” a Standard One Shot in the Dungeon Crawl Classics system. Led by Colm McCarthy.

"In all kingdoms there are tales, and in the Barony of Westlake, it is said that the Grimmswood hides the ruins of a long-lost realm. The daughter of its final king, cursed by a malevolent faerie, pricked her finger on a spindle upon her sixteenth birthday, in the blossom of her youth, and died. With her death, the kingdom went to ruin. Few now dare to go far into the Grimmswood, although the riches of the lost kingdom are said to lie unclaimed within. Fear of dark fey magic and even greater evils keep men out.

Or they did so until now. For Prince Hubert Charming of Westlake has determined that the long-dead Princess Beauty is only cursed to sleep away the aeons, and he will have her for his bride. His men rounded up a stable of “volunteers” at the beginning of one early autumn morning, and here you are, with what makeshift arms and equipment you had upon you when you were “volunteered”.

Your mission, the Prince’s Bailiff explains, is to enter the ruined castle, find the place where the “Sleeping” Beauty lies, and bring her forth for Prince Charming to restore with a kiss. Those who choose not to go upon this quest must take their chances with the Prince’s Guard, twenty men strong, and be declared outlaw. Those who choose to hazard their lives within the ruined castle may keep what they find, apart from the sleeping princess, but dare not leave without her."

“Put to Rest” a standard one shot game in the Avatar Legends system. Led by Ansel Burch.

The history of Royal Caldera city frequently leaves out the Battle of the Ancestors. Those records which can be found speak of the second wave, brought about by warlord Shu and his army of opportunists. Shu’s family was well connected and useful in the reunification following the final battle ensuring that his deeds were relegated to the footnotes of history, easily swept away by the arrival of Avatar Szeto. The heroes who stopped him are no less revered. Their statues gleam in the sun and have inspired generations, even if their plaques read vaguely and the names are unfamiliar. Is one of those statues secretly of you?

“Bend the Will” a standard one shot game in the Avatar Legends system. Led by Ansel Burch.

The history of Royal Caldera city frequently leaves out the Battle of the Ancestors. The first wave of undead were stopped but the heroes who made the day had gone missing. Court records show that a private meeting was held with these benders when they finally re-surfaced and many Fire Sages have since debated on the nature of the spirit world they claim to have visited and how it differs from the one known to the Avatars and people of the spirit wilds. Are you one of the few who know these stories firsthand?

“The Murder Mavens” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay. Led by Nona de Koning

“The Murder Mavens” a Standard One Shot in the Brindlewood Bay. Led by Nona de Koning

BRINDLEWOOD BAY is a roleplaying game about a group of elderly women—members of the local Murder Mavens mystery book club—who find themselves solving actual murder mysteries in their quaint New England town. There is no canon solution to the mysteries, instead, players must collect and piece together many different clues and come up with a convincing theory, then play to find out if they are right! The specific mystery will be one not played at TTRPG Pickup Con before and is selected based on submitted lines & veils :)

The Mavens themselves are all elderly women whose partners have passed away and whose children have long flown the nest. Now, they’re enjoying their golden years in the picturesque town of Brindlewood Bay, keeping their homes the way they like, pursuing their hobbies, and finding comfort and companionship in each other. Their mystery book club has been meeting on the top floor of The Candlelight Booksellers every Saturday evening for the last ten years. The Mavens are particularly fond of The Gold Crown Mysteries series by Robin Masterson, featuring the globe-trotting super-sleuth, Amanda Delacourt (which only exists in-universe and not in our world).

The Mavens' special interest in these books has resulted in them becoming amateur detectives themselves, and by the time the game starts, they have helped local police solve several high profile crimes. Sometimes people approach them to get their help on a case, but usually, the Mavens just stumble onto it—much to the chagrin of the authorities, who almost always resent their meddling.

There are some supernatural elements in play in the background, but those will need to be uncovered through repeated plays and aren't a part of this oneshot. There is also a meta-level to the setting, where the Mavens are actually characters in a TV show that the players are watching. If there is enough interest in it, the gamerunner is willing to offer this system at future cons in a West-Marches approach where both of these elements will feature more prominently.

This game will be great if you like cozy murder mysteries, PbtA games, collaborative storytelling, improv, Murder She Wrote, Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars, One Of Us Is Lying Players should build characters ahead.

Characters who played 0-2 sessions (this system has no levels). Character creation is a really quick multiple choice process. The gamerunner will contact players in advance to share handouts (rules reference & character sheets) and make your selections

New players are welcome., Players need to have played some RPGs.

This game will be hosted in room #4 of the TTRPG Pickup Con Discord Server. Spectators are welcome in the Discord room.

CW: Murder will be featured (but without gory details) and all mysteries may contain hints of cults and the supernatural. The mystery will be selected based on everyone's submitted lines & veils. Examples of potentially triggering content could include terminal illness, mental illness including mentions of attempted suicide or other self harm, bullying, substance abuse (alcohol/drugs), abandonment, kidnapping of humans or pets, imprisonment and infidelity. Not all of these are part of the same mystery, so I will work around your boundaries to provide a great game for everyone.

CW:

The handouts (rules reference & character sheet) will be messaged to players on Discord ahead of time

“Unbalance” a standard one shot game in the Avatar Legends system. Led by Ansel Burch.

The history of Royal Caldera city frequently leaves out the Battle of the Ancestors. The fire nation had fractured and lost all sense of itself as warring factions tore apart the land and its people seeking control of resources and survival. Plagues and famine had devastated the previously stong bonds shared by fire benders and their people. This unbalance manifested finally in the rising of the ancestors as zombies, sweeping across the cities and plains of the fire nation some even retaining their ability to bend. Will you be among the heroes to save the nation and help restore it to unity?

A game in the Mausritter system led by Nona de Koning.

Brineford is a small settlement on the shore of a saltwater pond known as the Brackish Basin. Its inhabitants have built their buildings from river stones, woven reeds, and mud under the protective umbrella of a small cascade of water that feeds the pond from the freshwater Goldenfork river.

When a group of beavers builds a dam upstream, the protective waterfall and the pond dry out, along with Brineford’s livelihood. As the citizens of Brineford try to negotiate with the beavers to restore the river, they discover something else: an ancient stone door at the bottom of the drained pond. It's up to your group of brave adventurers to venture inside and find out!

Drained Temple of the Brackish Basin

What can be inside, and does it hold the secret of the saltwater?

It's up to your group of brave adventurers to venture inside and find out!

This game will be great if you like Redwall, The Rescuers, The Hobbit, Over The Hedge, Thumbelina, OSR style RPGs.

We will build level 1 characters in the session. Character creation is lightning quick and involves just a few random rolls. We'll do this together at the start of the session. If you've played Mausritter before and want to bring an existing character, contact me upfront to discuss.

Raptor's Peak: Irresponsible Speeds

A game in the D&D 5E system led by Ansel Burch.

In the Idyllic Town of Raptor's Peak there has been a tradition of innovation growing in the hearts of the locals. New festivals, attractions and otherworldly powers have brought fortune to more than one of the inhabitants. It may not have been inevitable that a high speed, high risk and highly entertaining sport would be invented. It is not, however, surprising that it came to pass. The Rotary Club is... cautiously optimistic and are calling on some trusted and robust heroes to check in on the facility and test out the ride.

This game will be great if you like Amusement parks, The Winter Olympics, Cool Runnings,

Players should build level 7 characters ahead. You should build or level up your characters ahead if you are able. Otherwise, please let me know (give me any ideas you have) and I will prepare a character for you. You may use either standard array or rolled (Roll 4, Keep 3: 7 times, drop the lowest). Your characters should come into the session with four magic items: one "common", two "uncommon" and one "rare". A list is available here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items Returning characters who have picked items during previous adventurers in Raptor Peak need not count them towards the magic items granted above.

This game will be good for new players.

This game will lean a little toward the silly and will balance combat with role play.

This game will be hosted on the con’s discord server in Room #1 and be open to spectators there.
